The event also includes lively breakout groups and practical tools.

At a young age we were given a dream about our culture and our destiny. We were taught to believe that we could have the good life, which included a house on the hill, automobiles, electronic gadgets of every variety, and unlimited entertainment and travel. We also believed passionately that our country although imperfect was trying to be something great. We wanted to be that country that could ensure equal opportunity for all. We are now living in a period where we have begun to doubt our dream. Our golden age has turned into one of economic hardship, reduced opportunity, potential environmental collapse and widespread addiction. We did not seem to understand that there was a relationship between the growing number of us with that dream and the ability of the earth to provide it. That dream was based on many unexamined assumptions that we are now forced to look at. We are beginning to understand that that dream is quickly becoming a potential nightmare.
At this moment in history we are faced with the challenge of transforming that dream into something that sustains life for all generations of all species to come. The new dream must move us from a place of ‘ feeling separate’ to a place where we feel the interconnections of all life in our everyday life. The good news is that many of us are already moving in that direction.
We invite you to join us in that transformation and move from fear and powerlessness about the challenges we face to a place of grounded optimism about the future.
